ALTER Brooklyn

June 24, 2017

Hey guys! It has been a while since I've posted on my website, but I promise I'll be posting a lot more over the next few weeks. I have so many fun collaborations in the works and I'm excited to share them all with you. I'm finally starting to settle in here in New York City. For those of you who don't know, I live in Manhattan & Cooper lives in Brooklyn. I spent a little while in Williamsburg when I first moved here and fell in love with it. It reminds me of home for more reasons than one but the shops are fricken adorable!! Most of them are boutiques with super original pieces that you just can't find anywhere else. I stumbled upon Alter one afternoon as I was walking around. I didn't get to check it out until late May, but I'm so glad I did!

Cooper and I dropped in and both found a little something we loved. This gray top with black fringe trim was calling my name. Not only am I a sucker for fringe and undone looking pieces, the back is super detailed with buttons. It's perfect for the current weather NY has been having. It's super lightweight and I absolutely adore it. Cooper got the black sunnies -- safe to say I'm a fan.

This post was not sponsored by Alter. I'd encourage all my NY pals to stop into their shop in Williamsburg. They're always getting new pieces, which I love! I love botiques that are constantly switching up their inventory. Every time I'm in there's something new to try on!

That's all for tonight, but I hope you guys love this look!

Ps. I want to start producing more braided tutorials again.. if you have a braid in mind that you'd like a tutorial for, PLEASE comment below or send me a message. I love hearing from you & am excited to get started again!

xx, M

Megan x Plante Clothing

May 30, 2017

Hi lovelies,

I've officially been living in NYC for one month! It's been a crazy one to say the least, which I'll be writing about later this week, but I'm doing it & feeling incredibly blessed as of late. Most of my followers know that I started this blog with the intention of only posting braided hairstyles, but throughout the past year it's morphed into something a little different. After chatting with you all I've decided to transition from braid/beauty blogging into lifestyle blogging. I feel like this is the perfect outlet to showcase my personal style within all aspects of my life, not just my hair! Style, Home, Favorite Coffee Shops, Etc. You get to experience it all with me, and I'm so happy about it.

To kick off my first style post, I'm partnering up with Plante Clothing. The moment I laid eyes on their instagram account I fell in love. Most of their pieces are so elegant. I believe that there is so much beauty in simplicity. If you browse here you'll undoubtedly understand my obsession.

The butterfly blouse you see above is by Plante. The fit, the texture, the detail all comes together to make me feel comfortable, feminine, and beautiful. I paired it with white denim because I felt that the colorful butterflies should be the main focus of my entire outfit. It's such a bold top that deserves all the attention.

I'm excited to be working with Plante & hope you all love this blouse as much as I do! You can find them online here, and be sure to follow them on instagram here :)

xx, Megan

The Bakeshop by Woops!

March 9, 2017

Megan's Gray Top: Urban Outfitters // Cooper's Black Layered Hoodie: Zara

Hi everyone,

As you know I recently visited thee Cooper Jacklich in New York City last week & to say the least had a wonderful time. I've visited Manhattan before and have always had the desire to check out Brooklyn but never had the chance in the past due to crazy scheduling. My colleagues have always shared such cool stories/photos about hidden gems in Williamsburg so my eyes lit up when I realized I was not only on my way to New York City, but I was on my way to stay in Brooklyn for an entire week.  I stayed with him and his 4 roommates who are all individually beautiful human beings, & made my stay extra lovely. One creates beautiful music (check it out here) & one is a filmmaker (check him out here).

My flight landed around midnight on Thursday so by the time my driver got me to the apartment it was 1am. Coop was super sweet and walked with me to this corner pizza place Sizzle Pie. I got a slice, walked back to his place, and slept until 2pm the next day. As much as I'd like to call myself a morning person, no one likes sleep as much as I do. Traveling across the country and dealing with a time change was the perfect excuse to "forget" to set an alarm (sleep is important guys). Naturally, I woke up needing coffee and fresh air. We got up, got ready, and headed out for the afternoon.

First up on my list of Brooklyn spots to visit... The Bakeshop by Woops! I'm so happy we were able to visit this adorable little coffee shop and you must check it out if you're in the area. Cooper ordered his standard black coffee (typically I'd order the same) but I heard their chai lattes were to die for... it was absolutely delicious and I would've had another if I had more time. We sat together for a little while, laughing and chatting, enjoying each others company. I haven't felt what I felt in the coffee shop in quite a long time. It was my first day back in my favorite city in the world, with someone who literally brightens every day of mine.

I'll be posting more about my trip with some fun ootd content so keep an eye out on instagram for updates!

I'm sure Cooper would love it if you connected with him on instagram >> @thecooperj

- I also received a few messages requesting a tutorial for my every day makeup look, I'll definetely create that as soon as possible :)

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

xx, Megan
